“For the word of the LORD holds true, and everything he does is worthy of our trust.” Psalm 33:4 (NLT)
Years ago, when in the presence of the Lord, I asked Him what He really wanted from me. He spoke to my heart to “Trust and believe Me.” I have often run back to Him when in times of fear, difficulty, indecisions, disappointments, discouragements, etc., and time and again those words come back to me. “Trust and believe me.” When pondering about this, I have found that trust and believe are similar, but this is what it has meant to me. I must trust Him as the great “I Am” Who is absolute perfection in everything. He cannot sin, cannot make mistakes, or fail in any of His promises. We can trust our Almighty God who always knows everything and knows what is best for each of us. However, to know in our minds He is Almighty and all-powerful and perfect is one thing. But to put that into practice for our own lives, is not always easy, and we must believe He wants – and will always do – what is best for us as we put Him first in our lives.
What must we trust God for? We must trust God for healing, for finances, for our families, for our future, etc. Now let us see briefly what the Bible says about “trust” – which means to lean on, rely on, and be confident in our great God. When we fully trust with all our heart in the greatness of the Lord, then, “If you believe, you will get anything you ask for in prayer.” Matthew 21:22 (ERV)
1. (Trust) “God’s way is perfect. The LORD’S promise always proves to be true.” (Believe) “He protects those who trust in him.” II Samuel 22:31 (GW)
2. (Trust) “Trust the LORD and live right!” (Believe) “The land will be yours, and you will be safe.” Psalm 37:3 (CEV)
3. (Trust) “Those who know you, LORD, will trust you;” (Believe) “you do not abandon anyone who comes to you.” Psalm 9:10 (GNB)
4. (Trust) “Depend on the LORD. Trust in him,” (Believe) “and he will help you.” (ERV)
“Trust the LORD completely – never depending on your own knowledge.” Proverbs 3:5 (ERV)
